Derrick Johnson Construction & Development
Not only a crook but a big liar

I'm filing this report on behalf of my mother. The owner of this company is a Mr. Derrick Johnson. He signed a contract with my mother a few months ago to do some roofing on her home. He set the date for when he would begin the job. My mother gave him $2000 down and would give him the other $2000 upon completion.

The start date went by and so did the next day. I would make calls to him on my mother's behalf because she would be at work. I called Derrick and I got voicemail. I left a message. His wife calls me back. She informs me that her husband is waiting on a dumpster and that he should be able to start working tomorrow.

Tomorrow came and went. I get a call from the Mid-Ohio sanitation to let me know he is still waiting on the dumpster because they are behind. The lady tells me that they should have one available by Monday. Monday comes and still no Derrick. A week has passed since the start date now. I have called and left messages for Derrick to call my mother because she needs to know what is going on. 10 days after the start date I call Derrick AGAIN! I get a call back and AGAIN it is from his wife.

She informs me that Mr. Johnson decided not to take the job. I asked why. She tells me because of the messages that were left for him on his voicemail, that he's a grown man and he feels that he doesn't need to be talked to like that.

Then she has the nerve to tell me that my mother will get her money back but minus 10%. I let her know that it's not my mother's problem that he decided not to take the job and my mother deserves her refund at 100%.

This crook Derrick Johnson never returned any of my mother's calls or mine. We have not seen any kind of refund. My mother took him to small claims court. Of course, he didn't show up.

We have since found out some info about his company: He had to file bankruptcy from owing a lot of money. He has judgements against him now for over $16000! This is not a typo $16000!

The police came by my mother's house looking for him. There was a police report filed. He is a LIAR! The truth is not in him. He had the nerve to tell the police that he came by my mothers house and tried to give me a money order of a refund and that I wouldn't take it. (you all should understand why this makes no sense). Why would I not take the money order? On top of that lie, he also claims that he and I got into an arguement when he tried to give it to me, then he called me a bi#@h, and then he left.

My mother and I haven't seen or talked to this man since the day he signed the contract and took my mother's money. From all his past judgements against him, he is a crook. He just keeps ripping people off. As for the bunch of bull he told the cops, I can definetly say he's a LIAR! From the kind of lies he told, I don't think he intended on doing my mother's roof in the first place.
