Ripoff fraudulent lottery award notification Thanks complaint

Glad to see this has been reported many times - it saved me the heartache of making a huge mistake by following up.

My letter was dated 20/8/04 (or August 20th) (envelope postmarked 24.08.04 from TORREMO... MALAGA) and said that this is to inform you on the release of the EL - GORDO DE LA PRIMITIVA PROGRAM held on 31st of mar. Due to mix up of some numbers and names, the results were released on the 10th of aug.

I was awarded Euro 315,810 out of a total Euro 5,368, 770 shared among 17 international winners.

One thing that threw me off was that the payment processing form instructions said that 'bank informations (sic) are needed only if you choose bank transfer'. That's a good touch to lend some legitimacy to the scam. But if you provide all the other information you're likely to end up in the same predicament.

Claims agent listed is IVAN MARINA Foreign operations manager SANTALUCIA SEGUROS S.A. On Tel: 34 690 365 979, Fax: 34 658 347 281.

Unclaimed prize money are retuned to the MINISTERIO DE ECONOMIA Y HACIENDA. 10% of you Lottery Winnings belongs to IBERO MARKETING & PROMOTIONS because they entered your name for this draw.

Letter is signed by PEDRO RAMIREZ, President, Lottery Award Board. There is a red seal stamp that reads EL GORDO SWEEPSTAKE LOTTERY - DATE - SIGN - INTERNATIONAL
