Miscellaneous

I advertised on Craigslist I wanted to sell a 1941 Steinway Model S baby grand piano for $16,000. The original inquiry came from Wayne140@aol.com. I responded with some information and heard back from Tonya Voeller, USAF at ttvoeler871@gmail, who wrote:

Thanks for your swift response, I'm seriously interested in buying this for my Father as gift, your asking price is quite reasonable and affordable considering others I've seen lately, I'll take it. I would have loved to come check it out my self but am currently in camp as military sere instructor for new recruits. I however squeezed out time to check this posting as all personal dealings are highly restricted here, i really want this as a surprise gift for my Father so i won't let him know anything about this until it get delivered to him and due to the fact that phone calls making are restricted... I will be paying you with my PayPal account because it's attached to my bank account and its safe and very secure way to make payment. If my mode of payment is accepted just send me your paypal email address, (Paypal ID) so i can pay in right away. I have a private courier agent that will come for the pick up after payments has been made, so no shipping included. I'll need your name, the pickup address or location and please include your PayPal email address for the payment and send me some recent pictures if available And if you dont have a paypal account, you can easily go to www.paypal.com and sign up. Its very easy. I await your reply asap

Thanks Tonya

Her story, on its face, sounded plausible, and it's Father's Day so the gift for her Dad seemed appropriate. But we were suspicious: out-of-town, unable to meet in person, can't make phone calls, would send a courier instead of a piano mover, spells Voeller with only one L in the email addressl, and buying a $16,000 gift seemed expensive for someone on a military salary.

So my husband and I checked online, and he found all these other complaints about her on usacomplaints.com.

I had really wanted to believe her story, and considered taking the following precautions: I would insist on handling the movers (ask for her Dad's address to get a quote from piano movers) and add it to the bill. Plus, I would add PayPal's fee to her bill.instead of giving her my PayPal Account # and having her deposit money in my PayPal account, I would issue a PayPal-generated email invoice, as this would be a contract with all fees included, and would have to be handled through PayPal. And I'd go to Paypal.com to verify the money was actually in my PayPal account.

However, we saw her name pop up with 28 complaint reports and saw that she never intends on getting the merchandise advertised, but makes her money through making the seller pay for her fictitious "courier."

Funny... You'd think that after so many complaints about Tonya Voeller, she/he would use a different alias.
