Charged my account without having Authorization Connecticat

We were going through our bank account statement online and found a charge for $14.95 by a company named "MWI Galleria". We had no idea who or what this company was so we called our bank and they provided a contact number.

Upon calling Galleria, they informed us that they did not have our name or phone number on file and that they have no record of us even being members. Yet SOMEHOW they got ahold of my credit card number and charged us. We were transferred to atleast five people and all them were talking in circles, none of them helping us! It seemed they were all experienced with people calling them demanding their money back.

After speaking to 2 different supervisors, we were actually given a name and address of a person who has supposedly used our credit card number to make this charge. We have yet to get ahold of this person. Who knows if whoever this person is actually acquired my credit card number and is using it to make charges, or if MWI Galleria just pulled that name out of thin air to blame it on them. Based on all the rip off reports and lawsuits file against MWI Galleria, the latter is probably more likely to have happened.

We promptly changed our credit card numbers.

We have no idea what really happened here, but were promised that the $14.95 would be credited back to our account within 48 hours. We shall see. I guess we are lucky that the $14.95 was the only charge we received, it could have been a lot worse, and probably would have been if we had not changed our card numbers.
