Platinum tell offered a "free refurbished phone" of one subscribed to their one year PayGo prepaid plan. Paid up front, I received phone and used one time to ascertain it was working properly.

I am a senior citizen and was seeking a cellular service as an infrequent user... Thus, subsequent use attempted was past their 30-day warranty and the company refuses to refund or replace. Thus, I have a subscription for about $95 that cannot be utilized since the company's only solution was for me to purchase another phone. Thus, one can determine that Platinum Tel's business model is based on providing cell phones that will only last 30 days to get them out of warranty as they were quick to offer other phones at their full-retail costs when I inquired as to a solution. Also, with no information from me as to problem identification other than it jsut stopped working. The representative immediately told me it was a defective battery and indicated 30 days was all I should have expected. Sadly, I replaced the battery with a new one and same problem continued: The unit will not power up.in my opinion, Platinum tel knowingly vends such defective cell phones in their offer to provide such free if one buys a 1-year subscription up front. If the purchaser does not spend additional amounts for units that will allow access to prepaid cell services, they pocket the subscription money as the user cannot make use of the cell minutes remaining. So, I am left without an emergency cell phone service and $100.
