My Mother received a phone call from India? Said they were from Sydney, they had alot of her personal details already... From where we don't know. They took control of her computer, uploaded some programs, verbally abused her to make payment of $300 for lifetime virus protection, then tried to gain access to her online banking account. Over a period of 5 hours, they kept calling back trying to get her to give them more details because the transaction was not working and they couldn't fix her computer until they received full payment. I told her to unplug the computer and wait till i got there. They called whilst i was there, so i took the call, i told them to stop harrassing my Mother with their scam and hung up. They then proceeded to repeatedly call and then laughed and shouted profanities, in Indian? The only way we could stop the call's was to disconnect the Land line and contact the telephone company via mobile phone. They have placed a trace on the number and will send the scammers a "Please stop calling" letter if they continue for 10 days, after a further 10 days and another letter they will disconnected the scammers number... As if that is going to do anything to stop them!
