Computer with known BAD Mother Board - HP Pavillion Magnesium Gray Edition p6404y

After less than three years, my computer blue screened and stopped booting. After much troubleshooting, it was determined the mother board was shot! I spoke to a kind tech named Roshanda who told me that as it is not that far out of warranty I could buy into the extended warranty program. I decided to wait through the weekend... Admittedly my second mistake (first one buying an HP). When I called back today... I was told that it would be almost triple the originally quoted $109.00!!! That was my only option. When I mentioned to the new tech that a comment on HP's own message board about a known issue with this model's mother board was what prompted me to call in the first place, I was again shot down. I appreciate that it is just out of warranty, but a reported known issue!!!?? The mother board in question is the M2n78-la! I will NEVER purchase another HP computer again!
