Saw a cashed check in my checking account with a bogus account number. Using a toll-free number from the scanned check, I called and got a billing company for internet businesses. I asked what the charge was for and they said a monthly billing for website access. I asked the company and they told me it was Demi Box, but the check was endorsed by a Joseph Adine Fac& (?), Network Alliance, Acount # 0005242152265. The woman said they sent a verification to me at an email address that wasn't mine. I told the billing agency that I didn't authorize the charge, even though the check had my account information. The woman said we would get a credit back in a couple of business days, so we shouldn't have our bank cancel the transaction and request a refund. My wife went to the bank to stop further charges by Alliance Network, ask about cancelling the transaction, and see if we need to change our checking account. I also sent an email to the address the woman said was mine. I included a request for delivery receipt. Naturally the message came back saying the address doesnt' exist.
