Sharon Lee Camarca of Durango, Colorado was arrested on Friday, April 6 and charged with identity theft, credit card fraud, and cruelty to animals.
Officials with the Rocky Mountain Horse Association were inspecting a horse for certification, noted bruise marks on a horse's neck, and suspected animal abuse.
They immediately contacted the La Plata County Sheriff's office to investigate.
Sharon Camarca had been interviewed by authorities and arrested for cruelty to animals.
An outstanding warrant was open for identity theft where a complainant stated that her credit card was missing during her attendance of the annual Chocolate Fantasia event where she suspected that Camarca had taken it.
The complainant's credit card statements showed charges that were traced back to the suspect, Sharon Camarca, who also admitted that she had stolen another person's credit card and used it as her own.
