Thanks to the post on 3/27 I was able to avoid the same scam. I too was contacted by Darien Freedman regarding furniture I was selling on craigslist. The initial contact email was the same and I too did not feel quite right about it. So I googled his name and came across this scam report. So thanks to this website, I was able to avoid all the rest of the drama with Darien Freedman.
