Miscellaneous

I had my laptop break down and had to have a new hard drive installed and when it was returned, I had lost my Free AVG Anti Virus. When I went to install it again, it would not allow me the option to add it for free, so from what I remember I followed some options and then cancelled when they were asking for over $60. When I went into it again I was offered the free AVG, so installed that instead.

At the end of the month Dec. 31st I received an email from AVG offering 3yr full protection at the discount price of $44.99, so I agreed to buy that and gave my Credit Card Details.

Shock Horror! When I received my next Bank Statement I was charged $65.32 from SoftwarePros.com whom I had never heard of and had no idea what it was for? I also was charged the $44.99 for the AVG protection that I purchased on Dec. 31st!

I contacted my Bank and said that I had never heard of these people and didn't know what it was for, so they issued me a refund until it was investigated further.

On Jan. 24th I received a letter from my bank claiming that I had given permission for this and so they were debiting my Bank Account again for this purchase! They sent me forms from Merchant Services stating that I had purchased Software from Software-Pros.com and that they posted this Software on Dec. 4th and I had never received anything? The Description for this Software was described as 3yr Download Protection? If this was the case, then why did they contact me on Dec. 31st offering me a discounted protection for $44.99 which I then purchased? On page 7 of this so called purchase, the final description for the sale is '3 Month Download Protection'? Was I charged for 3yrs Download Protection or 3mth Download Protection for protection that I did not receive at all?

I phoned my bank but they said that I must have purchased it and I argued that I did not, but they would not listen to me, so I just hung up and then issued a complaint to my bank by email, but did not hear back, so just let it go.

After reading all these complaints about these crooks, I have decided that I will once again follow up on this and also post this to warn others not to deal with these thieves.

Glenda.
