Possibly cheating customers at the gas pump

I'm not sure what BP gas stations are up to but their activity seems suspicious to me. I, as well as several people I know have purchased gas from various BP stations in the Chicagoland area. Some but not all of the cashiers asked what kind of gas I would be buying. The first time it happened I asked myself if I was asked that question at any other station. Then I thought what are the selection buttons on the pump for if the cashier is making the selection from inside? Usually the only information you are required to give the cashier is the number of the pump you will be using. I have read about a scam where the cashier will push the higher octane button if you request regular which means you are paying more and getting less than you asked for. I don't know if this is the particular scam these gas stations are running but I know something isn't right! If a cashier ask me what kind of gas I am buying I say none and ask for my money back! I suggest you do the same!
