Ripoff, fradulent debt payment

A check in the amount had bounced for $348. I was contacted by JBC and told that the total amount of $348 was to be paid, plus a $500.00 additional fee since I live in Georgia bringing the total to $848.00. I receive numerous threats from this company about being put in jail. I sent by Western Union $500 and just heard on the news about this company. I am nervous that since this company is a rip-off, has the actual company that I bounced the check from receive my payment at all. This company doesn't appear to be respectable and if I don't owe any additional amount, I don't want to send it to them.
