On 1/18 I signed up with MyContractorLocator.com for a fee of $100 to receive leads on people looking for remodeling and home improvement services. Each lead was to be purchased on an individual basis, I can't remember if it was an across the board set fee or if the cost of each lead was disclosed before the individual lead was purchased.

The salesperson I signed up with assured me that any purchased lead that turned out to be "unqualified" would be refunded promptly with no hassle.

I purchased one lead on 2/04 for a "bathroom remodel". I called the home owner and after a lengthy discussion with her found out that she had answered some questions from a "survey" after being cold called. She said she had no interest in any bathroom remodeling whatsoever and had not indicated otherwise.

I immediately tried to contact my sales rep to get the lead fee reversed and received no call back from him after multiple attempts to contact him. Therefore I promptly followed the company's cancellation instructions and faxed a cancellation notice to them.

It is now 2/18 and I just found three charges on my company credit card, on 1/30, 2/8 and 2/10, each for $55 for leads I never accepted/purchased on an account I cancelled over one year ago. Now I have not only got ripped off for $135 a year ago but I have to deal with the hassle of trying to recover the current charges of $165 and waste my time and energy to do it.

This company and many others like them are nothing more than common criminals, and yet they continue to rip off hardworking contractors every day. They violate their contracts and terms of service all the time and steal money from a business sector that has been decimated in the economic downturn. I don't know how the people that own and work for these companies sleep at night.
