Tire Barn
Consumer Report

Miscellaneous

I made my purchase from Tire Barn because the salesman that I spoke to told me that if I had any issues or problems with the tires, to bring them in and they would repair or replace them if they were faulty. I had at first requested the same series of Michelin tires that I had on the GTP, but he stood firm by the statement that they no longer made that model.instead, he insisted that I purchase the 60,000m warranted Falken Ziex. He guaranteed a comparative feel and quality but with a longer life. After reporting problems a few days post-purchase, the same salesman told me that "they just need some time to break in". The car was shaking violently, yet had no alignment issues.

At each oil change, I request that a tire rotation was done, or, due to my involvement in the IZOD IndyCar Series, did the service myself or with the help of a crewman.

I took my car to the Tire Barn on West Washington three times in two days because the Air Pressure alarm was going off on my diagnostic system. They had to put three pounds of air in the tires each time, but refused to properly repair or replace the tires. Two days later, I took the car to Mark at the Tire Barn on Michigan Road. He repaired the puncture that the staff at West Washington failed to notice. At both locations, I was told that my tread was "fine". I took my car to Goodyear for an oil change and they recorded my tread life to be 1/32" and 2/32" all around. That evening, I revisited the U.S. 31 store by Greenwood to inquire as to why my tires were dead after less than half of the tread warranty, which the computer said was only 40,000m, 20,000 less than what the salesman claimed it to be.

I have visited three locations and all staff members that I've talked to blame me. They offer to sell me new tires at full-price, but not honor the extended service contract that I reluctantly agreed to. The tires have been used for half of their tread life, yet they are bald. There have been no issues with misalignment. I do not carry more weight than is necessary in the car. I do not drive erratically, nor do I perform "burn-outs" as your West Washington shop employee suggested.

I'm asking simply for your company to honor the contract that your U.S. 31 S store and I entered in to. The Falken tires sold to me have clearly been faulty from the purchase date, yet the staff that I have spoken with multiple times have only offered temporary fixes instead of righting the continued wrong. As a family, we own and operate five cars. The teams that I represent contain well over 75 employees. If corrected, I would be more than happy to pass on word of my good experiences, but until then, I will be pressured to send our friends and family elsewhere.
