Miscellaneous

I signed up for the seven day trial.in the meantime, my credit card was getting charged for various amounts ($29.00, $24.00, $49.00) without my prior approval. American Express called me and asked me if I had authorized these charges, I told them that I hadn't and that I recently joined the site to search records from a prior boyfriend. At no time did I authorize any of the charges. I went to the website Ancestry.com and cancelled my membership, only to learn that although they acknowledged on their website that my account was cancelled within the seven days of free trial that they went ahead and charged me $49.00 membership. I called the owner and he said that they were a small company, in business since 2008 and had sterling records with BBB. I told him that that was amazing because his company had scammed me and used my credit card without my authorization. He kept his cool and continued to lie to me saying that he had no record that my membership had been cancelled and that the $49.00 charge stands. I advised him that I would take action in small claims court, with the Attorney General and file an Internet fraud claim.
