Miscellaneous

I was directly solicited for music placement opportunities from Heather Sampson online from myspace. Seeing as Ive already made money independently scoring theme and scene music for Cable TV and College and independent Films, that a professional company was going to increase my opportunities ten-fold.

I then called their offices and was told, "your music is great, what we need in our roster as it is so original, and a style we are in need of..."

So I signed up (gave them my credit card number for the $399.99 charge) so they could scout my music for TV, Film, Radio, and Video Game placements. That's all I was needing from them. I had zero interest in internet radio or gigs across the Country as I am a sole composer, not a band.

I get an email (from Heather Sampson) saying it's going to be a great year after I signed up... I was hoping a great year for me. I was told (on the phone) by Brooklyn Trippe that this membership would quickly pay for itself.

I had a funny feeling when I started emailing MP3s. Many of the songs I sent bounced from the employee emails @fastbreakmusic and music@fastbreakmusic. I remember having to keep calling and get new emails to send to—even to gmail
accounts outside of the company. When I had sent my songs, I called for confirmation of my songs being in the database. I was told a lot of them were not in the system and I had to re-email them.

I did every effort to keep things organized by labeling songs with a numerical prefix (to have an organized library of my music in their system), but nobody ever put them in the order I asked. I was spending more time than needed listening to them being listed out of sequence from my lists.

Still I thought, I'd better not be too finicky because I wanted a relationship where I could make money. I figured too much complaining would only black list me within the company.

After ten months out of my 12 month subscription over, I received no placements at all. This bothered me enough to ask for my money back. They emailed me the forms I submitted and then they vanished! (ignoring every email afterward)

To further my case, I've independently had my music placed in short films that won best music, and even created 5 different theme songs for cable TV shows (Torrance Tales and Oregon Tales—a travel show). I've also created music for a Christmas show
episode and have made hundreds of dollars from this work.

My latest work was scoring a documentary for Chapman University (World's Apart) which net me $800. And I am currently making 3 internet radio station jingles and 2 more jingles for a video series from another source for pay.

I can't understand I myself can make thousands of dollars, but they can't even make enough business for me to even cover my initial $399.99 fee. That's when the red flashing light went off in my head that they are a SCAM! That's why I am submitting my complaint.

How is it that I hardly know anybody out here in the industry and I can do this well, and the Fast Break Music guys claim to know the industry and actively submit on my behalf for placements and get zero placements?

HERE'S THE FAST BREAK LIST OF SHAME:
1- I was told this was going to be a good year! WRONG!
2- I was told this membership would more than pay for itself! LIE!
3- And on January 5th I requested a refund from employee HEATHER
SAMPSON on myspace and never received a response... Though it was read. SCAM!

I did a bunch of research and "SCAM" keeps popping up everywhere when I type in their name. I wish i did better research before getting suckered in.

No one's claiming to have made any money, and the common voice out there seems to be the same: They don't do anything past the "your music is great" speech and take the money.

Then it's nothing but emails saying music is being submitted without a way tocheck, cross-reference&in short, prove that these internal emails from the company are more than cut and pasted BS just to make me believe I am getting somewhere. Plus they sent mostly emails for gig and internet radio contests which is of no use to a composer that works for pay.

I am hoping a lawyer can get my money back $399.99 plus whatever they charge for lawyer/court expenses... So I get a full refund after everyone is paid.
