Miscellaneous

I opened an e-mail from a trusted friend, late Saturday night, from a trusted friend with whom I frequently exchange e-mails. It said: "this article about making money online made me think about you."
I opened it and began the ride into Scam World.
This is the website I was first led to: http://www.abcpecas.com. Br/it. Realy.php? ID=919
First, and "article" from a magazine or newspaper. Then the "testamonials." Then another link, with some "information" about the choices. The most compelling testamonial was from a woman who was divorced with lots of kids, who needed money but wanted to be home to raise her kids. Lots of talk about how much money could be made, etc. Next link led to a whole different person, with a whole different spiel. I got confused, and backed up to the former step, but it kept leading me to the same man. I noticed that the text said that if I didn't want to bother opening my own website, I could skip that step and just "Post Links" as an "Affiliate." So I clicked on "Affiliates" and was led to a guy talking about"Affiliate Cash Snipers." This guy was selling software that would make the whole thing easier, and build a website for you, in order to leap ahead of the many people who have been doing this already, and making decent money. This was very good money. And they had "just launched on Jan. 214th."
This is a very slick and well done Scam. As soon as the card information was processed, I was told to go to the next link and sign up for a "Phone Mentor." I called, feeling that I was going to have someone tell me that I would get super service, and that there would be a charge of — . They didn't answer because of" the enormous volume of calls they were getting, so leave my name and number and I would be called back in the order my call was received." After two days and lots of calls, they still haven't called me back.
This morning I called my Card Services number, and went through the process of trying to get the charges removed from my card.
I Googled their name, and found Scambook.
I spent the better part of the day filling out Police reports, Bank forms, going to the Notary, etc.
This scam is evil. They are preying on people who have been hit hard by this Economic Disaster. They are using names of friends and family to get a person interested. And they are taking money with no intention of taking it any further.
They need to be stopped.
