Miscellaneous

I found an ad on the internet free adoption for two loving scarlet macaws with cage, toys and food (lovetotrade). The man's name was Anthony Belis, i contacted him throught a web site called www.deviliparrots.com, he said that he was moving into a new apartment and couldn't bring the birds with him. He said that if i was honest in giving them a good home all i had to do was pay 500.00 for shipping costs to get the birds delivered to my doorstep. He described the birds as loving and playful, and told that they didn't bite. He informed me that they had all their papers and vaccinations too. I inquired to ask him if i needed any additional insurance for the safety of the two birds, he replied again that 500.00 would be all i needed to pay. He told me that all he needed was my name, address and phone number to register the birds with a shipping company, whom which i would have to send the payment to directly. This is when an email came to me from Virgin Pets Delivery, gave me some info on the pending delivery of my two scarlet macaws. They informed me also in this email that i would have to send the money via Western Union. So i did, (sent it to Robert Emeka, London, UK) and they informed me that they would be flying straight to Lexington airport, and my birds will be with me within hours accompanied by two agents, Elena Jones and Mark Weber. Waitng for the arrival, they contacted me with another email saying that i had to have 900.00 for life insurance, because of some laws in Missouri. I couldn't understand later that they were at Lambert International airport, instead of Lexington. I tried to explain to them that this wasn't agreed on but then they said dont worry. You are covered by our insurance sector and 95% of your money will be returned to you when your birds are delivered. They gave a a sad story on how my birds need my help and they needed to be with me. I told them i didn't have that kind of money. Now by this time i am emailing Anthony Belis and Virgin Pets Delivery. They are both typing the exact same things, telling me i need to get the funds immediately so i will have my birds with in 2 hours. Well i paid it to the same name as i listed above. Then hours later they sent another email telling me that my birds need a cites permit, to send another 1800.00 in order to get my birds to me. Well i was furious and told them it was hard to come up with 900.00 already, and they said borrow from relatives agian, just come up with the payment.By this time i called the number that was given to me, a foriegn man answers (introduces himself as Robert Emeka) and tells me to calm down, that i need to send the money to the same place i did before so my birds can be with me in two hours. So i figured on it and Anthony Belis was informing me through the emails that he was worried about Tim & Geni (the macaws) and said he would put up 400.00 and send it to them, leaving me with 1400.00 to pay that was promised to be refunded 100% when my birds were delivered. I did this again, went to western union and sent 1400.00 to Robert Emeka in London, UK. Well i waited for about 4 hours trying to find out the flight details, well they got back with me, showing me they had a flight from Lambert Airport to Louisville International Airport, so i was a little at ease. Until they sent me another email (within an hours time) saying that my birds were sick and they were at Indianappolis, and that i needed to send another 2200.00 before i could get my birds. I told them when i sent the last 1400.00 that i wasn't paying any more, and i asked them if this was the last time they would need money and they assured me that this was it. The foreign guy (introduced himself earlier as Robert Emeka) always answered the phone and promised me that i need to calm down and that i would be with me birds soon. Then emailing after and saying i needed another 2200.00 i was livid and they acted angry toward me because i didn't trust them anymore, and then Anthony Belis was telling me he didn't know about all this and that i needed to figure this out and to trust them. I plain out told them i wanted my refund for all my money i sent to the name Robert Emeka and they could take the birds back to Mr. Belis, but they informed me that the only way i could get my money back was when Elena Jones and Mark Weber delivered my birds and they would pay me back in CASH. But they wouldn't listen when i told them i was now broke but they reduced the fee to 2000.00 and once again Mr. Belis tried offering 300.00 to help. But that was the time i realized i was scammed. Later me and my husband emailed them telling them that the proper authorites were being notified and they got offended and told me not to make this mistake because they informed me that i was covered under their insurance sector and i would be wrong, and they would be upheld. So far no birds and my money they still have. I have kept all my westen union reciepts hoping to get back most of our money.
