Miscellaneous

This is a scam to get your credit card number. I was calling a store to inquire about a purchase. Like the calls of others who have reported on this site, my call was somehow directed to someone who said he represented Access 123. He said they offer long distance directory service and would pay me $100 for trying the service. I gave him a credit card number adn agreed to try the service in return for the promised cash payment of $100. A charge for $5 appeared immediately on my credit card bill. Three weeks later, the "$100" appeared in the mail, but it was nothing but an "opportunity" to buy on-line at discounted prices. If I bought enough through this service, I could get $100 in savings. Not at all what I was promised. I called to cancel. Then, a couple weeks later, charges appeared on my credit card bill for an ID protection service and then for an online discount shopping service ($40). The shopping service agreed over the phone to refund the $40, but I have not seen the money yet. They also admitted to me that Access 123 is one of their "marketing partners." The person I talked to said there is nothing they can do if their marketing partners mis-represents the service. She she said she would advise her manager but he was not in the business of calling people back.
