Miscellaneous

Like others who have posted on this website, I too responded to a job ad on Craigslist. The process was just the same as other & I didn't think to Google the company name until after I had submitted a ton of personal information & allowed a free credit report. I just checked my credit card online and Experian has charged me $1.00, a fee that I did not at any point authorize.
I'm furious, not for losing one dollar, but for the fact that I was scammed into something that looked perfectly professional & promising. It's discouraging to see that others have also suffered & I hate to think of how much money they have collected. The worst part is that I have no idea where my personal information is going, and I am sure that it is already out there beyond my personal reach. I wish I had been curious enough to Google the company name before responding to all of the pre-interview screening but, like I said, it was promising & I was excited to comply. Now I'm angry and concerned about the safety of my identifying information. I hope others think before making the same mistake & hopefully my testimony can be part of that caution.
