Miscellaneous

I applied for what I thought was a legit small buisness grant. About 3 days later I was contacted by a Kim Brown, from Washington D.C. Saying I had qualified for a $40,000 government grant. I was told to contact a grant prep company called Nexus Financial in Florida. The company assigned me a contract # and a person to assist me with getting the grant ready for submission. That persons name was Rick Allen. I was told to send a certified check to a grant writer by the name Candy Benson for $490.00. I sent the check and haven't heard from them once since. I contacted the local authorities, and they told me that beings that the amount was so little, they cant pursue it. They said the scammers know this too.
