I received a letter dated 11/29 in which I was told, like many others, that I was one of 20 folks that won a Mega Lottery. I received a check for $3,980 which looks official—but it is from an American Company, Big Rapids Products located in Big Rapids, MI.
The letter states to not try to cash the check until after I make a phone call—which I did not. I have received these scam letters in the mail before and knew the drill. They want money to pay the "taxes" and I would be expected to send money to an account and then cash the check which would be a fraudulent check.
I wrote the company on which the check is suppose to be drawn to let them know about the hoax. I would assume that there will be people who would try to cash this check and I felt that the company had the right to know what was taking place.
