I responded to an ad on Indeed.com for a mystery shopper job. Everything looked legitamate, I even looked the company up exstensively to see if it was a scam. I did not see any scam information. I then received a e-mail saying that i was chosen, and that I was going to get a start-up package. Two - three days later I got the packet in the mail. It had a check for $3900 in it. I called the # listed in the materials. A Jamaican sounding woman answered the phone and said that I had to fax back the introduction letter with my info. She then stated that they would "authorize" the check in 24 hours. I did what was stated and i went to go cash the check. I went to a check cashing store that I use and they would not cash the check. I then went to my old bank to deposit the check, and I told them I received the check in lieu of work I was to do. The branch manager then went to verify the check, and it was no good. I'm glad now that I was not able to cash it, I would have been in real trouble and I consider myself a pretty smart person. It is a shame that there are people out here that would take advantage like that in this economy. I will be reporting this to the F.B. I, and whoever else I can, so these people will get arrested. If you have been scammed out of money don't be ashamed to report it! I surely am not! These things need to stop!!
