I have applied for numerous warehouse supervisor jobs and thought it was legitamate. I filled out their assessment and even followed their link to freecreditreport.com and received my credit score and entered my customer ID onto the assessment form prior to hitting submit. Once I hit submit, an error came up on the page and said that my application was incomplete and to hit the back button. There was no back button, so I hit the browser's back button which took me to their "home" page. They had a contact us tab which I selected and sent them a message about what happened. I also called their contact number on their webpage and and left a message. I also replied to Kate Walker's email. The next day (11/10) I had no replies, so I sent another message via their website and left another message from their contact number on their webpage. Yesterday, 11/14, I went to pull up their webpage again and it is no longer existent. I cancelled my "free" credit check through freecreditreport.com yesterday and today I found this link from Indeed that exactly mentions the exact email I recevied several times as a scam—the link is: http://www.indeed.com/forum/gen/Job-Interviews/Is-job-scam-Asking-credit-score-before-interviewing/t304349/p5
I don't know if the fake company was just trying to get people to sign up for the "free" credit report—that actually costs you a montly fee if you don't cancel within 7 days or if they were trying to get personal information for identity theft. I have the original email that was sent to me, the follow-up emails I sent, and when I had errors on the webpage, I saved the webpage to my favorites—however, when I pull it up now, it says the page isn't there.
Yesterday, I pulled up Jackson and Thomas on the BBB, and there is a listing, but there are no results and they have the same type answering message as what I got from the number on the webpage. However, this Jackson and Thomas is based out of Ohio and the one I pulled up when their page still existed was based out of New York. When I pulled up the company from the BBB, it lists it as Jackson and Thomas as an Employment Service, but when I called the number, the message machine says Griffin and Lee, not Jackson and Thomas as listed on the BBB page. That number is 1-800-419-7090.
