Was doing a post-midnight job-search, probably approximately 3am PST, using the legitimate Google Monster refined job search page... When I reduced the page to a button to go to bed there was a rectangular pop-up with ALL of the Google Logo & Protected Site biz, stating "You may qualify for $500.00 FREE!" After a series of pages asking yes or no questions regarding my unemployment status, my opinion on the economy, was I collecting u/e, I arrived at a "yes, you DO qualify, and a page wanting name, address, phone#—well as it was #1) I'm on a protected address state program so they didn't get my street address #2) I'm waiting for a new SIM card and cell# by mail, so had to wait until later this A.M. To put that in; I'd left the page up, added that to the info which fortunately STILL hasn't been activated, and voila, I got a blank page stating "My system needed but didn't have the required 'cookies' to continue with proper functionality... And to install them." I auto-delete my history nightly so assumed that was why or it had timed out, HOWEVER, that is until I Googled the info and found $500.00 fraud complaints-sites listed. Wow, they really had this site mirroring Google-everything. They DID get my e-mail address at Yahoo (I didn't use my G-mail address), and that's enough to tick me off since they weren't asking for money, but quite obviously information gathering. (FYI: the address on my Google Chrome History for this site, which WAS retained because I had gone back into it to finish it is/was a couple of the following)—
