The Odds Of Getting Struck By Lightning Are Better Than Getting A Paycheck From NHCD. Run, forrest! Run!

Miscellaneous

Let's just start off by saying, NCHD (National Health Care Discount), DOES NOT want to be considered a telemarketing company. They get extremely offended by that.

During February of I too, was suckered by NCHD. I was living in WV at the time, had been laid off from my job, and being a single parent with my house mortgage and every bill known to man staring me in the face, I thought I'd see what NHCD had to offer, so I could have the opportunity to be home more with my son, so I pawned some of my jewelry, ran as fast as I could to get a $49.00 money order, and sent it to them ASAP. After all, I was told "I only have 2 positions open, so the sooner you can get the money order to me, the faster we can get you on payroll."

At that time, the initial 'phone deposit' was $49.00, and I gasped when I saw it had gone up to the current amount of $74.00.

When I personally started with the company, I did everything expected of me, and went way beyond the call of duty. I did 'lead' generation, which were the initial 500 calls. (My first 2 weeks, I made 2000 calls.) I felt as if I was deceiving those people on my call list and here's why: The call lists they have, are supposed to be lists of people "that have either shown interest in the company, or have dealt with prescription drugs before." What they don't tell you is, the names on that list can come from anywhere that a person has signed up for something, whether it's medical related or not~ whether it's one of those mall displays where you enter a contest, or get your name on a mailing list of some sort. I can't tell you how many times I was asked, "How did you get my number?" (This doesn't sound like telemarketing here, does it?) But even though it bothered me, I too, was starving, and had to do what I thought I had to do to feed my child, so I continued, not knowing that because of this company's neglect for their employees, it was driving me toward Welfare.

After 2 weeks, I was told that I was being 'promoted' to 'recruiting', which ended up being the biggest facade of the whole 'job'... When I was 'hired', it was made to seem as if I was a grrrrrrrrrrrrreat person, would be a "total asset to the company". HA! That's when I found out, that no matter what the person on the other end said, who was applying the same way I did, the recruiting managers all told me the person applying was to be told he/she got the job. Unless the person was a minor, didn't have a computer or their own phone, they were to be hired, no matter what. Charles Manson could have applied and I would have had to hire him.

To make a long, horrid, ordeal short~ after 3 weeks working for NCHD, I hadn't received a paycheck. After 5 weeks, still no paycheck, and I had also been keeping track of not only the hours I put into the job, but how many calls I made, how many leads I generated, and how many people I 'hired'.

Lo and behold, SEVEN weeks later, I FINALLY received my first paycheck with the whopping amount of $134.00. My next check the following week, and my final one, was even better~ a big ol' 24 DOLLARS. I was basically able to buy some Ramen noodles and get my jewelry out of the pawn shop, and to this day, I still never received my phone deposit back, and I was always told what a great worker I was, so they had nothing to come back on me for as far as keeping it as they chose to do. The funny thing was, every time I complained, I got the runaround from hell, and come to find out, so did a lot of other so called 'employees'. You're never too young to learn, grasshoppah.

Oh, and what's ironic is, their company is selling discount dental and medical plans to senior citizens, when they can get the exact same coverage/card for free at other establishments, so yes, they're also deceiving their clients, and if you complain to the BBB, it's pretty much moot because the BBB doesn't usually look into reports filed from former associates or employees of a certain company, therefore leaving the inevitable BBB logo on their websites for all to see and feel that NHCD is a trustworthy business. That sure gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling.

I've even been approached since that time, about a possible major civil action lawsuit against the company more than once. And trust me, if the possibility became a reality, I'd jump at it and, I wouldn't even have to pawn my crap.
