First Mortgage West said that could help me refinance my current mortgage but at a lower interest rate. They kept in close contact with me throughout the loan application period and appraisal report. They told me that I would need to put up one year's worth of mortgage payments in their escrow account, to show their private lenders that I was a risk worth taking. I was told that as soon as we went to closing I would get that money refunded. After the money was wired to their account, I never heard from them again in spite of repeated phone calls and emails on my end. I am 61 years old, recently retired, and not in the best of health. They now have a good part of my life savings.
