Miscellaneous

I called a number after I heard an ad on the radio about free grocery vouchers and that the government was conducting a survey. I called the number and the man, John, that answered said that it was indeed a survey and that they were seeing how people were spending their grocery money during these economic hardships. I asked a lot of questions and it all sounded reasonable—even did a google search and saw surveys by "American Value". He said he had to charge me a $19.95 processing fee for the "package" of vouchers that I would receive. Then proceeded to offer a bunch of stupid "savings" programs. Should've known then, but thought it was a survey being funded by other programs like this. I got my very small envelope in the mail last night and it is NOT vouchers—it is a membership service to a coupon website by American Value Grocery. I called their number and the man who answered was very apologetic and said AVG had asked "them" to take the ad off the radio and that I was "misinformed" about the program. I said I'd try it anyway, but I'm not sure if it will be worth $20 to me. I should just cancel, but he said I had 30 days to make that decision and I should see if the program is worth it. We'll see. I'm still pissed that it's not what was advertised.
