Ripoff What am I, an idiot? I don't understand how this stuff can really happen to us

Here I am, yesterday at 7:00 PM, cooking dinner, talking to my brother on the phone, watching some TV, relaxing after a long day at school, and the doorbell rings. My dog goes nuts when the doorbell rings, so of course, I answer it. There are 3 teenage 'kids' standing there looking quite relaxed, and instantly, the male starts talking. He was talking so fast that I didn't even catch his name. I just caught that they were selling magazines to work on public speaking and to win a trip to Cancun.

I normally wouldn't even talk to door to door sales people, but for some reason, I was feeling nice, so I listened to what they had to say. They didn't seem to have any problems speaking to me. They were very confident and friendly kids. I actually even commented on it and asked why they needed practice.

The questions just started to roll off of their tongues, and I proceeded to answer. I don't talk to people like that, I can't believe I did it. They asked about my dog and 2 cats, if I was married, how old I was, etc., etc., etc. What a joke, now I find out, after the fact...

I couldn't find a magazine that I really liked. Cosmo wasn't on the form, and face it, women love Cosmo, so it took me a really long time.By this time, I felt so bad for keeping them for so long, I had to buy something. They told me that it would be great if I could buy 2 since there were 2 of them, but that was impossible, I couldn't even find 1 that I liked.

So, they come into my apartment, and I get out my checkbook, they asked for cash, but HECK NO, so I write the $40 check to PMI, who were they? No idea! After they left, I looked at the receipt and saw that my address wasn't even correctly written, and there was a $10 processing charge; what's that all about? I was just trying to help some kids get a great vacation (one that I have never had).

Needless to say, my fiance came home and freaked out on me and told me it was all a scam, so that brought me here, I can't believe I fell for it!!! I'm cancelling my check tomorrow morning, I don't even care how much it costs me, I am disgusted with people like this!!
