Ripoff, too good to be true.interviews are not meant to be this easy

I had the unfortunate experience of getting caught up in this door to door scam. My first interview was amazingly short and told me little about the company, when I asked about Hilltop's mission statement I got the response of "growth." However, after I was called back for my second interview, which really turned out to be a follow along, I realized that the actual mission of this so-called company was to annoy business owners.

Hilltop, as it turns out, was nothing more than a pyramid scheme filled with brain-washed salespeople who rely on recruiting what they call a "team" so that they, the "team-leaders" can advance. Basically it breaks down like this, you sell door to door, if you are good at that then you become a leader. If your team does good, then you become an assistant manager and so on and so forth. However, what they don't tell you is that you are paid entirely on commision and that the office manager actually gets 52% of every sale you make.

What this really all boils down to is a 4-day training period before going out on your own to peddle things like office supplies and merchant services. When I saw marketing I thought that it was going to be a traditional research, target market, modified message job that closely followed the values that any marketing professor teaches at the university level. The truth of the matter is that this is a scam that parallels the Amway model for business. Bottom line here is that no matter how desperate you are for a job, a job like on at Hilltop will only get in the way of you finding a real job.
