I went on-line to Uniden (phone manufacturer) about a defective telephone. Their on-line response was that I would get the best and fastest service from fixya, which had an on-line address. I contacted fixya, and was advised that there would be a $12.00 charge. I signaled OK. I got an e-mail frm a fixya rep asking for the model number of the phone. I had found in the meantime that the phone was under warranty, so I immediately advised the fixya rep that I was withdrawing my request, since the phone is under warranty. The rep replied, OK, we understand. A few days later, I got another e-mail from a different fixya guy, who advised me to "reboot" the phone. I again replied that I had already withdrawn my request because the phone is under warranty, and that I had received confirmation of this from the first rep. Then the $12.00 charge was entered onto our Mastercard account. It's small potatoes, but still a scam.
