Took $6000.00 to do work in basement and never showed up

Mr Niche Maxwell came to my Resident on 7/21, posing as a license contractor.
He told me and my husband that he can fix our unfinished basement. He gave us an estimate for $5500.00 and stated that he works with U S carpentry and cabinet incorporation in Rego Park Queens.
We gave him $1000.00 down payment to start the job on Monday. He did not show up until the thursday with some materials and a few workers. He promised to come back the next day and asked for more money to buy the rest of materials and to pay the workers.

After receiving the money, Mr Niche maxwell never showed up. He cashed the checks and that was the end.

Please help us catch this bandit before he victimize other hard working citizens.
