Truck Assessment

I took my truck to Mccoy Freightliner to have an oil leak assesment done. I arr. At 6:30 am. I waited until app. 10:30 am. I was called to the service desk to talk to the assement mech. He told me I had 3 major oil leaks, the front gear cover, the oil cooler mounting and the f/w housing. Repairs for these repairs according to the assesment mech could run as high as 6500.00$. I declined the repair. Over the weekend I exaimed the truck my self and found the problem. The oil add spout had come loose from the side of the engine block. I repaired the problem in about 45 min.including clean up. I am having the engine steam cleaned to ensure the leak is fixed. I confirmed that a six dollar bracked on the front gear cover was cracked and was causing a oil weep.

My problem is that if I had listened to the assement mech. I would have paid for over 6,000.00$ of repairs that I did not need. If it turns out that the leak is not stopped or if their are leaks from where the assement mech said. I will send a continuation to this report. At present the leak is stopped.
