Stanley Max saw horses

I have been a carpenter for thirty years. For some years now I have owned two sets of Stanley Max saw horses with no complaints. With their adjustable feet, 2x4 insert slots, no slip rubber tabs and V shaped top members for round stock. Now the complaint, I have recently purchased a new pair of Stanley Max saw horses, I opened them up set a 2x12 piece pressure treated to rip. Started ripping the lumber with no more pressure than normal and the horses started to tip over. On closer comparison with their older counterparts the leg opening stance has been reduced from 20" to 16" making them unstable. Not a good move by R&D.
