I'm Mad

On October 30, I increased my $10 unit to a $20 unit by knocking out the connecting wall. I put my furniture in there (items I inherited from my deceased grandmother) and locked both (2) doors with my locks. I paid my bills as normal, usually ahead of time, not once was I late. March 22 I went to my unit to pick up something, I opened my lock and there was someone else's stuff in the unit. All of my items are gone. I checked to make sure it was the right unit (and it was). The first lock was my lock, so I checked my second lock and someone had replaced it with their lock. I went to the manager and demanded an explanation. The computer was checked and it showed that Mr. A had been renting out my unit since March. The manager called Mr. A and we found out that the unit was empty when Mr. A moved in. This was when the manager insisted that my stuff was stolen in some recent robberies. He was very adamant about it and showed us a unit with a pile of crap (boxes of broken items and unusable parts) and said that this was all of the stuff that was left over from the robberies that no one claimed. He asked if I saw my stuff in there, which I did not.

I was pissed and asked why he didn't notify me. He said, "Because I was waiting for the tenants to come to me and tell me that their stuff was stolen." He actually said that! I asked when the robberies happened and he said June (Yes that date is correct, he said my stuff got stolen 3 months after he rented my supposedly empty unit to someone else.) He also blamed the previous management, which is BS. I demanded my money back (the months I paid, for the unit, that had someone else's stuff in it.) I am still waiting for the check, I have not yet received it. I don't have enough evidence to do anything since the theft happened a year ago.
