FIRE property review

Hello, my husdband and i moved in with his father to help take care of him, we stored all of our houshold items in a shed on the property, because his home is small we lost our cloths as well. A fire destyroyed everything. We take care of the clean up and haul away debri. The fire forensic says undetermind, so dad is coverd on insurance, but we found out he is lying to us about everything, saying nothing is covered, when in faact he has already been recieveing checks, we have power of attorney over dad. We would like to know what you would do in this case? Any advise would be welcomed. Thank you
