Where does the payments go?

We have bought a vehicle and financed it through lendmark and our payments are 435 a month we've paid every month and each month on the recipts the new balance goes down less than a hundred, how come none of our payments goes to the principle loan amount? Can anyone tell me that? Where is the money going and why make payments so high if it aint gonna get the loan paid off any faster. Im seriouly tired of paying them close to 500 a month and not getting anything done, why just keep giving money away for nothing
