My Dad called me with news that he'd won a Sweepstakes! He was animated, I was suspicious. He read me the reasons from the letter that he (age 75) thought it was authentic - - there was a check enclosed for $2,950.50

- there was a name and toll free number to call, (if he decided not to make the personal appearance in Madrid to collect his winnings) Ms. Cheryl Anderson, 877 742-3440,

- and the letter explained how he'd been chosen from 650 thousand names. Etc.

I suggested he let me check it out, and hated hearing his voice when I called back telling him how NOT unusual this is. A real winning would have come registered letter, The check was not real, what would happen if he tried to deposit, and, by the way, Cheryl's number is no longer in service. I could tell he felt like a sucker, and that is what angers me.

My Dad is a brilliant man, active, and very kind. He isn't looking for wolves at the door, because he would never be one. I'm convinced these kind of sweepstakes scams are especially targeted at our elderly. I filled out one of the caretaker reports, and I hope that helps, because he got two more -
