Re: Acura MDX Repairs

Brian,

This letter serves to support and document my recent transactions and experience with your organization - Coleman Taylor.

For years I've heard of your organization and as an established Brand in the Marketplace, and decided to entrust the repair of my vehicle into your hands. However, the experience from the beginning has been one that - if I could do all over again, wouldn't.

It all began with the breaking down of the transmission and you proceeding to repair and order parts without my permission. The car had been tested, and it was reported to me that it was a Sensor located under the transmission - not the transmission. The Check Engine Light was on in the vehicle, however, it was not doing anything. The gears were not slipping, dragging, hesitating - …nothing - nor did it show signs of malfunction.

Furthermore, I have never had an issue with the vehicle's major mechanics, ie. Transmission, Engine, Starter, Alternator… Secondly, I requested old parts that would not have to be returned because of a Core charge, to no avail - never received them. Thirdly, you quoted me several prices - of which I notated all the way up to the day that I picked the vehicle up for the first repair - and you were not there, causing a major issue because of the difference in the price in what you quoted me over the phone. It was completely embarrassing. You placed myself and one of the workers in a precarious and unfair position. His story was, "I can't call him, he's at the lake." Finally after much duress he placed a call to another shop who obviously contacted you and had you to call in.

Fourth, after having the repaired vehicle about two weeks, on my way home at a very late hour, the transmission malfunctions on the interstate – placing my life and the passenger in the vehicle in danger. So, on Mother's, I was stranded with no transportation. On Monday, May 11, I phoned Coleman Taylor to tell them about the experience and that someone would need to pick the vehicle up. I also requested a rental car. The gentleman said, you'll have to speak with Brian on that – we don't cover rental cars. You never called back so I called in that afternoon. You advised me that it was something minor - a connector and would be done by COB.

After repairs and your assurance that the vehicle was fine and that nothing major was wrong, on my way to a meeting that occurs once a month, and on the interstate between two 18 wheelers - again, the transmission malfunctions and nearly caused me to have an accident. It barely made it to the shop. Again, placing my life in danger.

I paid Coleman Taylor nearly $3000 to repair the vehicle. It has now been in your shop (3) times. This letter serves notice to Coleman Taylor, that I am requesting that if the vehicle brakes down a third time, that it be towed to the Acura dealership and repaired at no cost to me. Due process will indeed at that time be exhausted.

If you are not able to abide by those terms, I have been advised to disseminate this letter through the legal system, the Better Business Bureau, the Consumer Complaint Department - Division of Consumer Affairs and through every Media Vehicle that I deem necessary.

Won't give money back or transport to Acura.
