PriceShuffle Penny Auction Scam

Miscellaneous

I happened to stumble across a very deceptive false news website, [http://channel4newstoday.com/], which boasted that new users would receive 100 bonus bids upon. So I followed the link, thinking I would be able to check out the site before I committed to any membership or charges.

First off, you register by putting your name on the first page and then it takes you the the next page where you enter your shipping and billing info. Then you put in the Promo code to get 100 bonus bids. You then click to the next page and you get a page that says you have 400 bids in your account all the while wondering how that happened.

I checked my email shortly thereafter to find that I had been charged $149.75 without my consent! I verified the unjust charge with my online banking. I would really like to know why there isn't an intermediate page that states "you are about to purchase 300 bids - click here to confirm" like any other legitimate website out there?

The charge was made without my direct consent so I have issued a request to the site for a full refund. During the registration, there was not, at any point, a mention that users would be charged an additional fee.

I have hopes of resolving this issue swiftly, without FTC involvement.
