This woman goes by her first name because she wants the world to think that she is latina. And because she was born and raised in colombia, land of the drug traffickers, she should speak a passable spanish.

She was., in fact, born of a muslim father and a catalan mother and her father had eight other children before her. Something that not many of her fans know about. I cant find out what he did in colombia in the first place but i am not sure i want to know.

She also dyes her hair blonde in addition to not being forthright about her heritage — especially since 911.

So what is it about her i can not stand and why should i feel ripped off and personally offended by the type of "music" that she does.

What she does is not tradition latin music as i understand it.

She sings like a breathless goat with whining microtones that grate on my soul. I can remember a mexican music station in san antonio, texas trying to play one of her albums and then fading it to black and i wondered if a tape or something had broken because it sounded so horrible to me.
