On got home from holiday recently to find that a water pipe had burst. This has caused a lot of damage to carpets furniture etc. Also the telephones have stopped working, (but my internet connection was OK) this is the problem. I called BT out. The engineer fitted a new line & box from where the Phone line enteres the house. He did a line test which he said was all right, though it was very crackley. He said this was due to the inside extention line. I have bought a new extention but the problem is still the same. Also the internet connection is now not working. I phoned on my mobile the next day and was told that this was my problem as BT were only responsible for the line to the house. I have been charged £127 for the call out and the line is not usable. And if I want an engineer to call again I was told it will cost me another £127. As the fault was not repaired I dont feel this is right. Please would you tell me what I can do.
