Liars, taking advantage of good hearted people

On May 12th at 8:00 pm sales agent Dustin came to my home selling magazines for a contest for points to win a trip to Italy. My purchase was also to benefit a charity of my choosing from a list he showed me. I wanted to help this young man out, even though I am a single mother of an autistic son that struggles financially to simply just make it from paycheck to paycheck. I also had a grandfather that was taken away by Diabetes and believed the charity was a good cause. Additionally, at the time of this encounter, my son was banging on the window and my dog was raising hell inside my home as we stood on the porch. I told Dustin at that time that my son was autistic and I really needed to get back inside as this visit was not routine and was making my son uncomfortable. I was under the impression I would be purchasing a year subscription to the magazine for $24.56 plus process and handling fees. I stepped inside, picked up my dog so he wouldnt run out, and Dustin followed. Now this guy is inside my home, with my son, and I become uncomfortable in this situation. I quickly went to get $40.00 cash, assuming that would be enough to pay the balance. It was at that time he showed me the receipt with the balance of $71.00 circled! He said Thats what you need to pay me with all the processing fees. I said Oh NoI cant do that, how can it be that much when the magazine was less than $25.00? He was quick to talk and I felt at that moment I just needed to pay this scam artist and get him out of my home! I didnt want to write a check because I didnt want him to have my account number, It happened to quick to think it through, so he got $71 CASH and left on foot down the block! I then looked at the receipt with no web address and a physical address with only a PO Box and knew for certain I wasnt dealing with anything legitimate, and NO answer from the phony customer service number on the back.
As a Marine Veteran and a hard working single mother of a special needs child I dont know how these people were raised or how they sleep at night but I am embarrassed to live in this country that I love so greatly along side such lazy, heartless thieves!
I have already taken the steps necessarry to protect my son and my home in the case that I find myself in a situation like this again... Trespassers beware!!!
