Misleading sales practices prey on unsuspecting college kids seeking community service credit

Our 18 year old son was directed to go Boxing Inc Max in Tucson, AZ to complete some community service work. Our son, Alex, met Doug who I believe is the manager. Doug arranged to have Alex sign what turned out to be a one year contract for the gym, unbeknown to Alex, who thought he was signing up for a month trial. When we as parents found out, I called Doug and asked him what was going on. He claimed I insulted him my saying I wanted to get to know him and understand the terms of the agreement. I asked if he would fax me a copy of the agreement which Alex does not have. Doug said it's their policy not to fax things. Nice. So I asked if Alex could come by and get a copy of the agreement. First Doug said yes. When I called Doug to confirm that Alex would come over, Doug said he wouldn't commit to giving him the agreement. I asked Doug what we could do to work out an arrangement to cover any expenses so Alex could get out of the contract. He said no way and threatened to send him to collections. Not good since young people have a tough enough time establishing credit. My sense is, although I am working to confirm this, Doug basically bullies or misleads kids to sign agreements they could not likely understand at the ripe old age of 18. Has anyone else had an experience like this? We are reporting Doug and this business to the BBB and the UofA officials and will do everything possible to help other parents and their kids avoid this apparent bait and switch and possible misleading sales practice. (I am trying to give Doug and the owner the benefit of the doubt until I do further investigation.) Let's band together as parents and consumers to ensure ethical business practices are followed by Boxing Inc MAX of Tucson. Thanks.
