Recieved the same letter and a check. The check stated it was 1000.00 more than the Taxes that were due on the winnings. Contacted the Bank the check was drawn on, they said it was a fraudulent check.

I am assuming they were going to have me deposit the check. The letter says to send the taxes directly to the taxing agency by Western Union. Once I did that, I assume the check would fail to clear and I would be responsible for the missing funds.

I also filed a claim on the postal inspectors website - fakechecks.org. Don't fall for this one.

I encluded a picture of the fake check. It looks legit. I blanked out the address and check number so it can't be traced to me.

Also, note the additional address on the check.
