Impossiblity of contact w/McAfee, etc

The McAfee products I purchased all want to run at either the same time or in succession and then tell me that I'm "not protected" and do I want them to run a scan and take care of the "problems". First, I wouldn't put out the money if I didn't want protection. Second, with all the scans being run there's no time for me to use the computer as it slows the computer down. Please don't tell me to upgrade the comp as we are senior citizens and can't afford to. Help from McAfee is almost nonexistent on the web. They send you from one site to the next and back again. There are about 2 months left on my contract but I can't take it anymore. My son says he can remove it if I want to put in another brand of software. I think I will have to do it. They've given me no choice.
