Door to Door sales scam

Miscellaneous

I am a recent college grad looking to enter the business world so I send my resume to every employer on Craigslist and CareerBuilder etc. So I was needless to say excited when I received a phone call hours after posting sending my resume to 7 Promotions Inc. They called me and told me they were very interested in working with me (based on no experience in the business field) and asked if I would come in for a short interview the following day. I go in and Im sitting with about 6 other people waiting for the same interview while the secretary makes identical phone calls the entire time baiting more people in. After a 5 minute interview I had with Brad he told me to call back around 4:30 the same day and he would tell me if I made it to the 2nd round of the interview. Well I did and the next Monday I had the pleasure of sitting in the car driving around Westchester with a salesmen pitching unneeded Verizon services to door to door. They tell you that during the two week training you will get paid $50 a day; however you wont receive that until you sucker in X amount of applicants, and even then some of your commission rate is withheld for a couple of weeks until the applications go through possessing. While youre out with your mentor they give you a script to read to the business owners having you refer to yourself as an account manager with Verizon to make you seem legitimate. If the door isnt slammed in your face at that point you look over the business phone bill and based on the number of lines and internet in the building you fill out an application for a different service before they even have a chance to know what is going on. They told me to be brief and vague and just act like I know a lot more than the customer and they will trust in me. There I was lying to business owners feeding them * and then filling out the paperwork for this other guy while he got the commission. My breaking point was when they asked me if I wanted to drive unpaid (besides the $50 for the day) from the office 40 minutes across the Tappan Zee Bridge with my mentor to my zone to get a feel for the businesses. After two days of walking around getting yelled at and kicked out of offices I realized something wasnt right. My father ended up looking up 7 Promotions and found this forum. Don't buy into it, I wish I had found this beforehand.
