In 2007 i began my search for a show quality maltese that i could introduce to my own lines. I eventually came across Sinphony of Venice Maltese in Italy. After speaking with these people and many different email contacts, i eventually agreed to purchase a puppy from them called 'Sinphony of Venice Daddy Puzzle' by 'Rhapsody's Indecent Mystery' & 'My Small Candy'. I was very excited with the prospect of owning this puppy and went ahead with the purchase.

I was told that the price would be 5000 euros which included keeping him for 6 mths, grooming, feeding, vet bills & all expenses apart from shipping. Half of the money was to be paid upfront and the other half to be paid one week before the dog was shipped to me. I paid the first half of the money, only to be told a few weeks later that if i didnt pay the other half then i wouldn't receive the registration papers for the dog! So i reluctantly paid the other half. A few weeks after that, Valentina contacted me and asked for 2000 euros and in exchange, she would make my puppy a champion in 3 different countries before he was shipped to me, so of course i paid the money.

When i had received the papers i noticed the name of dog was completely different to the dog i had agreed to purchase. The name of the dog on the papers was 'Sinphony of Venice Forever Love' but the dog i bought was 'Sinphony of Venice Daddy Puzzle' not only was the dogs name different, but the dam of the dog was also different! I contacted the kennels in Italy and Valentina told me that the dog i originally purchased (Daddy Puzzle) would not be a suitable dog for showing and was only good for a pet, so she has given me a more suitable dog. I didnt think this was her decision to make as i had paid for the dog and we both agreed this was the dog i was going to receive. She was very reluctant to give me the dog i originally purchased and so i assumed there was a genetic fault or other problem with him which meant he couldnt be shown in the ring. She assured me that the dog she was going to send would be a perfect substitute so i trusted her!

During the next few months they contacted me asking for money to pay for things like vet bills and other stupid things that were obviously made up, here is an example: a few days before the dog was due to be shipped to me, Valentina rang and asked for 650 euros because she had taken him to the vet to have his shipping papers signed but the vet wouldnt sign them because he had to carry out a 'new' test for maltese dogs to ensure he didnt have a disease which makes his hair fall out. Apparently if i didnt make the payment then the vet wouldnt sign the papers and the airline wouldnt let the dog on the plane! Of course i knew she was lying so i contacted both the airline and DEFRA who both assured me there was no such thing! Since it was so close to the shipping date, i paid her the money anyway because i didnt want to cause an argument and for her to not ship the dog!

The morning that the dog was due to be shipped, Valentina contacted me on her way to the airport to let me know everything was going according to plan. A hour or so later she rang again to say that the dog was on the plane but before they took him she had to pay 400 euro for a vet to check him over before he was allowed onto the plane and she ad to pay the 400 out of her own pocket and had no money to get home again. She told me that she was stranded in the airport with no money and i would have to make the money transfer straigt away! Of course i knew this was more lies so i rang the airline again who assured me they never took any money of Valentina! Since the dog was already on the plane i wasn't worried so didnt make the payment to her! This goes to show how sneaky and devious she is!

In the end i had paid her almost 10,000 euros for a dog which was only meant to be 5,000 euro! When i got the dog i didnt even know if he was a champion or not because there was no papers with him. I rang Valentina and asked for his Ch papers and she said it was nothing to do with her anymore because he isn;t her dog! So i spent the next 15 months trying to get papers for the dog.in July i eventually received papers from the Croatian KC to say he was Jun CH but nothing else! He was meant to be Ch in 3 countries!

The dog i originally bought was called 'Sinphony of Venice Daddy Puzzle', she told me this dog was not fit for show and would only suit as a pet, but he is now a multi BIS ch... She had obviously watched this dog grow and decided she wanted him for herself! And the dog she sent me... Well i have had him almost 2 yrs and he is not suitable for show, 10,000 euros for a pet maltese!

I have posted my story on facebook and many people have come forward with similar stories to mine. One lady from the UK has even told me about how she had also paid for 'Daddy Puzzle' at the same time as me!
