Tony Merchant Took payment promised divorce would be done quickly, I called 3 months later and he had no idea who I was

I went to the Merchant Law Group and more specifically Tony Merchant himself to get my divorce going. I spoke with him for about a 1/2 hour and he told me it would be a straight forward divorce as we already had an order regarding custody. This was in October I believe, he assured me that it would be done by the New year. The new year came and went and I heard nothing. I called his office near the end of the month and was told he would call me back when he got back. I called again a week later as I hadn't heard from him and he had no idea who I was! Nothing was started and the only thing that had happened is my bill kept getting higher and higher as his office kept track of how many times I called and an outrageous amount for phone calls, faxes, photocopies... That somehow made it close to $1000, all without any court action being taken. I then fired him and went to another lawyer who by coincidence was also my ex's lawyer (I didn't know) and when they realized the error, they refunded me all of my retainer. At least one lawyer's office is honest-ish. I would recommend going to the Merchant Law Group if you have a lot of money to throw away on, in my opinion, unethical practices.
